Description: Distributed microphone networks combined with machine learning are expected to be key elements for extracting high-level descriptions of the soundscape: identifying, localizing and tracking the relevant sound objects making up a sound scene. The information gathered by such an analysis and monitoring system will in turn make possible the recreation of soundscapes with context-aware interactive and intelligent features

Project Title: A Prototype for Real-Time Indoor Speaker Localization

Description: Development of a real-time sound source localization system for videoconferencing environments in Telefonica’s headquarters. The system is capable of identifying the position of a speaker within a room, steering a videocamera automatically to the estimated speaker location.

Description: Project aimed at designing source separation techniques and up-mixing schemes for object-based spatial audio reproduction. Wave field synthesis (WFS) and stereo source separation methods were combined and analyzed from a perceptual point of view.
